The Magician

Welcome back to the Hearthwise Tarot!

I've assigned myself this little project as a way to deepen my relationship with tarot. Every few weeks, I'll reading deeply about the card's traditional lore and symbolism, journal, and create a digital collaged representation of the card, with an occasional Hearthwise twist.

Today we meet THE MAGICIAN… Not the sleight of hand kind, who entertains through misdirection, but the kind who stands between heaven and earth and thinks, “I can build something here.”

Look closely, and the card’s symbols deepen the story:

✨ the infinity symbol above the head = divine flow + never-ending possibility

🕯️ the red and white robes = passion guided by purpose; desire made holy through clarity

🌹 the flowers all around = life force, beauty, and the reminder that creative energy is active and blooming

🪄 the wand, cup, sword, and pentacle = the tools you need are available

🤍 the white head wrap = focused intention + a mind willing to do the work

🪙 the pendant at the waist = power anchored in the body, not just floating in the ether

🪵 the table = the real world; manifestation; somewhere to land

**New Moon in Pisces**

If we use this card to reflect on today, March 17, 2026, we see the Magician standing beneath the New Moon in Pisces.
This atmosphere is porous, intuitive, imaginative. Fertile ground for the Magician's laser-beam focus... If we can think it, the energy of this card can help make it happen!

The Magician card is Ruled by Mercury, so we also need to consider the impact of our current Mercury Retrograde (for a few more days!). I can almost hear the whisper: ‘trust the vision, but keep your glasses on’ ... translation: let's not confuse that spark of initiation with capacity for completion. (all my late-diagnosis ADHD girls, I’m looking at you…I mean, us 😜).
