“Fear is dangerous, not the tarot. The tarot represents the spectrum of the human condition, the good, the evil, the light, and the dark. Do not fear the darker aspects of the human condition. Understand them. The tarot is a storybook about life, about the greatness of human accomplishment, and also the ugliness we are each capable of.”
What are Tarot Cards?
The Tarot is a symbolic map of consciousness that encompasses our journey through life, both spiritually and practically. Tarot decks contain 78 cards: 22 in the Major Arcana and 56 in the Minor Arcana.
The Major Arcana are numbered 0 through 21, starting with The Fool and ending with The World. These cards align with the milestones in the archetypical Hero’s Journey—the inevitable phases or passages that we’ll all encounter during our lives (though not necessarily in this order). It’s also possible for these phases to repeat themselves, and recur multiple times throughout one’s life, creating a cyclical nature in which there is no true beginning or end.
The Minor Arcana of the Tarot symbolize daily aspects of life, giving insight into our challenges, talents, opportunities, and experience of ups and downs. These cards are divided into four suits: Wands, Swords, Cups, and Pentacles. The 14 cards in each suit are numbered Ace (1) through 10, plus a set of Court Cards: Page, Knight, Queen, and King. The suits and individual cards are not always called the same thing from deck to deck, but their core meanings are fairly universal.
Tarot reading is the practice of seeking guidance by arranging cards in a specific spread (or layout). Determining a card’s significance is dependent upon the question, the reader, the person receiving the reading, and the placement of other cards in the spread. My approach to Tarot reading is dialogic, reflective, and inquiry-driven. It is not a passive experience, and cards hold only thematic meaning until we, together, consider its application to the matters at hand in the reading. You will leave the session with a sense of having been seen, listened to, and supported in uncovering your own answers to your wonderings.

Payment is due at the time of booking to reserve your session. Payment can be made via Venmo (@staceycarlough) or PayPal (paypal.me/SCarlough).
I offer a sliding scale for many sessions as a way to support equity of access while also honoring the real value of this work—my time, preparation, professional expertise, and decades of training that inform the quality and care I bring to each session. Sliding scale is one small way I practice community care: those who are able to pay toward the higher end help make it possible for others to access sessions at the lower end.

You’re invited to choose a rate that feels honest and sustainable for your current season.
Consider the lower end if paying the standard rate would create hardship or limit your ability to meet basic needs.
Consider the mid-range/standard if you can meet your needs comfortably with some planning.
Consider the higher end if you have more financial flexibility, access to generational wealth, a stable income, or would like to help offset access for others.
No explanation is required. I trust you to choose what’s right for you.
